Privacy policy

This privacy policy governs the manner in which Next bus Barcelona (“we”, “us”) collects, uses, maintains and publishes the information (“information” or “data”) collected from users (each, a “user”, or “you”) of the Next bus Barcelona application (“application”). This privacy policy applies to the Android application and to all other products and services offered by Next bus Barcelona in relation with the application (“services”). If you have any doubt in relation with this privacy policy or the usage of your data, we can assess you if you contact us via e-mail at android@properbus.cat.

Information we collect

Personal information you provide to us

We do not collect contact or payment information, names, surnames, accounts or addresses from users. However, if you use the features in the application that allow you to contact us for suggestions, comments or error reporting, you will do it by means of your own e-mail account and the name you have configured in it, and therefore, we will receive this information that you have decided to share when contacting us.

Automatically collected information

We collect certain information from users when they interact with our application. The information may include the operating system version, the maker and model of the device, the IP address, device unique identifiers and technical information about the usage that users make of our application, like for example the event stream within the application, the application settings, the used service providers and other non-identifying information.

Other information we collect

If you use the application, we may collect the following data:

• Location (geolocation)
  We may use the location provided by your device to offer you services based on location (for example, a map of nearby stops). If you do not want us to access this information, you can disable it on your device settings.
• Query history
  We may store the last queried items in the application so it's easier for you to check them again (for example, recent stops). If you do not want us to store the last queried items, you can disable it on the application settings.
• Device unique identifier
  We may use the device unique identifier to offer you push notifications with messages that may be of your interest (for example, service incidents). If you do not want us to send messages to you, you can disable it on your device settings.

How we use the information

We collect and use the information from users for the following purposes:

• To provide the services to you
  We may use the needed information to offer the application services to you.
• To improve our application
  We may use the information to improve our application or our services.
• To display ads based on your interests
  We may use your information to display ads specially targeted to your interests (see the “Third parties with whom we share the information” section to see with which companies we share this information).
• To reply to your inquiries or ask for more information
  In case you contact us previously, we may use your e-mail address to reply to your inquiries, suggestions or error reports.
• To offer statistics of our application
  We may use your anonymized information to obtain statistics about behavior and usage of the application and share them, if we deem it appropriate.
• To protect our services
  We may use the information (for example, IP addresses) to facilitate the normal usage of the services and to avoid intrusions or attacks.
• To respond to the requests of authorities or legal needs
  If we receive any request from any authority, we may need to analyze your information.

Maps visualization

The application shows maps with Google Maps technology, and being a key feature of the application, it's not possible to disable it. Google Maps may collect data of your usage. You can check their terms of service and privacy policy at: https://cloud.google.com/maps-platform/terms

Advertising

The ads shown in the application are served by AdMob. AdMob has several providers and when you use the free version of the application, you will have to accept their privacy policies, which will be shown in the application. The application will allow you to give and manage your consent for personalized ads or non-personalized ads. These ads may contain applications, services, websites, products or other items with whom we do not have any affiliation, and therefore, it's your own responsibility to review their privacy policies and decide if you want to share your information with them.

Error reporting

If you agree to it, when an unexpected error occurs, the application will automatically send an error report to Crashlytics with the cause of the error and other device usage information. Performance analysis

If you agree to it, the application will automatically share usage data related to the application performance with Firebase. You can check their privacy policy at: https://firebase.google.com/terms/data-processing-terms

Analytics

If you agree to it, the application will automatically share usage data with Google Analytics for Firebase. This allows us to detailedly analyze the usage that users make of our application. You can check their privacy policy at: https://firebase.google.com/terms/data-processing-terms

Payments

The application includes optional paid content (for example, to remove the ads). We use Google Play Store as a payment processor. You can check their privacy policy at: https://policies.google.com/privacy

Others

We may share the information with third parties with the following purposes:

• Outsourcing
  We may share the data with providers, partners and representatives that act in our name and who need the information to do their work. For example, payment processing, data analysis, e-mail sending or web hosting.
• Business transfers
  We may share the data in the event of mergers or acquisition of our application by another company.
• Legal obligations
  We may share the data in the event of being requested by the authorities or whenever it's mandatory to comply with the law.

Where, how and for how long is the information stored

Our servers are located in Luxembourg and Lithuania. However, we may transfer and/or store data in providers or servers located in other countries, including outside the European Economic Area. If you reside in the European Economic Area, keep in mind that these other countries may not have data protections laws as restrictive. Even in this case, we will establish the necessary measures according to this privacy policy and applicable law.

We adopt appropriate practices for the collection, storage and processing of data, and security measures to protect us against the access, alteration, publication or destruction of data and personal information. However, keep in mind that we can not 100% guarantee the security on the Internet, and that the transfer of your data to our services is made at your own risk.

We will only retain your information while it's necessary for the purposes detailed in this privacy policy. In no case will we store the data for more than 2 years. If we no longer need the data, we will delete or anonymize it and, if it's not possible (for example, because it's been stored in backups), we will archive it securely and isolate it from any other processing until deletion is possible.

Changes to this privacy policy

We have the discretion to update this privacy policy at any given time. Whenever we update it, we will modify the last update date at the end of this page. We recommend users to check frequently the changes made to this page in order to keep informed of how we help protect the personal information we collect. You agree that it is your responsibility to periodically check this privacy policy. Usage of the application or services after the modification of this policy implies that you agree to it.

Rights and contact information

If you reside in the European Economic Area, you have certain rights that you can exercise at any given time. Version and jurisdiction

The valid version in legal terms of this policy is the version in Catalan language. The applicable jurisdiction if that of the city of Barcelona.
